The silent majority
Does anyone notice that we are slowly waking this sleeping giant? How much more craziness needs to occur before it roars to life is hard to say. How much corruption can we stomach anymore? I think not much more. You know you're thinking it. You see it on the news every night and morning. You hear how people are sinking to new lows in their treatment of each other.
The pirates are in charge and you're wondering how this happened? And what's going to happen now? Well, what happens next is up to you. If you don't like what you're seeing and hearing, then speak up. You can't wait anymore. I know you're hoping that someone else will take care of it. You're busy right? Let someone else who knows more about the issues handle it, right? They're professionals, it's their job, right? Well guess what? Some of those professionals you put in office are busy taking their handouts under the table to line their pockets and selling out to gain cushy corporate jobs after they term out. Haven't you been paying attention? You did put them in office, right? Because you voted, right? Because you care about your country, community, neighborhood, right? You care about what taxes, fees, laws are going to be forced down your throat every year, right? You don't want to have to understand the issues enough to vote on them? To decide whether your representatives are working in your best interests? Everything they decide to do affects you. Everything. Considering the current state of affairs, are you willing to continue to abdicate your rights to others to look out for your best interests? Gas prices not high enough yet? Energy bill not breaking your bank yet? Pollution not sending you to the doctor yet? Is that what you're waiting for?
I know you. You're a lot like me. You are a reasonable person with expectations that people will do the right thing.Despite the news, I know that most people are decent, hardworking, law abiding, kind and caring. But too many wrong things are happening while we stand by and hope for the best. We need to step it up a little now. Speak up. Write or call your representatives. Tell them what your expectations are and then watch what happens. Take some of the power back by making them accountable to you. Take some time to read about some of the issues that matter to you and then speak up. We can't afford to stay silent any longer. If we all do just a little bit more, pay just a little bit more attention, we can make things a whole lot better.
